FROM THE TRANSPORTATION DIVISION CHAIR
– Introductory message –

Let me introduce myself. My name is Betty Lou Hicks and I serve as Manager Library Services for Hanson Professional Services, Inc. with headquarters in Springfield, Illinois. I will be serving as the Chair of the SLA Transportation Division for the 2004-2005 year. The Company for which I work is a private consulting engineer/architect firm which has been in business for 50 years. As Civil Engineers, they work in all fields of transportation. Thus, I encounter questions concerning bridges, highways, airports, railroads and even marine facilities. We work internationally, especially in the field of telecommunications. The Library is a member of the Rolling Prairie Library System in Illinois, and our holdings are in a shared database, but we are also members of OCLC. I am looking forward to working with all the members of the Division. The year will be one of change as SLA is initiating many changes and the Division needs to adopt these changes. I will be posting news updates on the Division’s web site.
