Sci-Tech Division LIS Liaison Program
Developed by the Student Relations Committee (SRC)
The Student Relations Committee of the Sci-Tech Division invites SLA Sci-Tech members to volunteer to act as liaisons to Library and Information Science degree programs in North America. The LIS Liaison Program will hopefully help further the Division's engagement with students and serve to complement the existing Sci-Tech Division Mentoring Program.
Why participate?
The liaisons will be available to field student questions via phone, email or in person or a combo of those methods and possibly be a contact for serving on panel presentations, or other non-routine speaking engagements.
What is the relationship between LIS degree programs and the Liaisons?
As mentors the liaisons can help provide guidance and ideas on specifics about subject-based collections or reference service, job search and interview tips, outreach advice, guidance with professional development, SLA involvement, ideas for jump-starting research projects, how to turn a research project into a poster or publication, etc.
How do I become involved as an LIS liaison or who do I contact if I wish to ask further questions?
Coordinators, faculty or students of library and information science degree programs interested in working with a liaison from the Sci-Tech Division or Division members interested in volunteering for the program are encouraged to contact the coordinator of the program:
