3:30 - 5:00 pm Evolving Skylines: The New Downtown {Walking Tour}
The "new downtown" (or "Bunker Hill") in Los Angeles is
largely the product of the efforts of the Community Redevelopment Agency of
the City. Beginning in the 1960s, this agency coordinated the investment of
millions of dollars to develop a new downtown with a tall skyscraper profile
that would contribute to Los Angeles' world city status. With major office buildings
and hotels now in place, today such issues as urban development and architecture
in the last 40 years, with an emphasis on preservation issues and adaptive reuse
of existing structures. Tour limited to 60 participants. Ticketed event; tickets
$10.00.

11:30 am - 1:00 pm Information Services for Strategic Alliances
The State Department's overseas network of Information resource centers (IRCs)
has a very real impact on how the United States is perceived abroad. This session
will focus on recent current events and the roles that information professionals
have in promoting greater awareness and understanding of U.S. policies.

Foundations
This session will describe the structure of the Consortium of Foundation Libraries
(CFL), its geographical evolution, the affiliation process with a non?library
professional organization, current CFL projects, and collaborations with other
council groups that have developed since the affiliation.
