The Pharmaceutical and Health Technology Division (P&HT) of the Special Libraries Association provides a forum for the exchange of information and ideas among individuals interested in the collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, and dissemination of information in all aspects of the pharmaceutical, biomedical, biotechnical, cosmetic, medical device, and other health care fields. P&HT is involved in all aspects of information science, as related to education, research, business and marketing in the health care field.


  • Elections - Electronic voting for SLA PHT officers is now open! Please vote anytime between now and 5:00 pm CDT May 9, 2008. A short biography about each candidate is included here and on the electronic ballot.
    You will receive an email to vote, subject “2008 SLA PH&T Officer Election Ballot”. If you do not receive the e-mail, you can click this link.
  • DPHT Spring 2008 Meeting - All available presentations are now posted. (Warning - uncompressed files, some very large)
  • The 2008 SLA Annual Conference is open for registration. The conference will be held June 15-18 in Seattle.
  • Projects are being sought for the 2008 Travel Award, which gives a grant to to attend the Special Libraries Association (SLA) 2008 Annual Conference. Eligible to apply are 1) a library science student or 2) a member of the Pharmaceutical and Health Technology (P&HT) Division. Deadline April 15.
  • 2008 P&HT Horizon and Distinguished Member Awards - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 30
    It’s time to submit your nominations for this year’s Division awards, the Horizon Award and the Distinguished Member Award. Each winner will receive $500 and a certificate of appreciation. Submitting a nomination takes just a few minutes, so reward a deserving colleague this year. Read the full announcement and submit your nomination today!
  • 2008 IT Innovation Challenge - Do you have an innovative solution that could be used in the special information environment? The SLA IT Division is announcing the Innovation Challenge for 2008. We are looking for entries that make use of technology to create an innovative solution for use within the special information environment. Have you created a mashup? Written a computer program? Let us know about it! The winner will be announced at the 2009 SLA Annual Conference. A $1,200 prize will be awarded to assist the winner with the costs of conference attendance.
