2009 marks the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the Special Libraries Association by John Cotton Dana in 1909 as a professional association dedicated to serving the needs and interests of professionals who handle specialized information and research services.

PER Division News

About
The Petroleum and Energy Resources (PER) Division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA) focuses on all energy resources and industries, including petroleum, natural gas, electric, coal and other forms of depletable and renewable energy. The Division is concerned with all aspects of the utilization and conservation of these energy resources including exploration, production, generation, transportation, distribution, refining, products, marketing, economics, environmental effects, regulation, and research and technology.

SLA is an international professional association that represents more than 14,000 information resource experts who collect, analyze and evaluate, package, and disseminate information to facilitate accurate decision making. SLA's members are employed by corporations, private companies, government agencies, technical and academic institutions, museums, medical facilities, non-profit organizations and information management consulting firms. SLA's mission is to advance the leadership role of the special librarian/information professional by putting knowledge to work in society.
