Mentoring Services

The Mentoring Subcommittee of the Professional Development Committee was chartered in 1999 to actualize part of the Division's 1999-2002 Strategic Plan. Goal 3 of the Strategic Plan calls on the Division to "provide mentoring and professional development opportunities for all PAM members." In response, the Subcommittee has concentrated on developing three programs:

  • Formal Mentorships (including online application form)
  • Annual Conference "Buddy Program" (May/June)
  • Expertise Database (coming later)

Details about the programs are given under the appropriate link. We hope that everyone will consider participating in one or more of these programs.

If you are accomplished in the Division or professionally, we would appreciate it if you would volunteer to share your expertise with the next generation of PAM Librarians, as a Mentor, Guide to the Annual Conference, and/or self-identified Expert on a particular subject.

If you are still feeling your way around the Division or professionally, are embarking on a new challenge or changing the focus of your job, and believe you could benefit from the help of someone with more experience in that area, consider volunteering to be a Mentee, or having a guide show you around the Annual Conference.

These Mentoring Services are only as good as we make them, and only useful if we use them.

There is a Mentoring Feedback Form available (in Microsoft Word format). If you have feedback, please download the file, fill it out, and email it to Karen Croneis.
