o Access & Distribution Models:
" Euclid Prime--a group of selected journals available by subscription

o Three new Project Euclid journals were announced:
" Hokkaido Mathematical Journal
" Journal of Mathematics of Kyoto University
" Tsukuba Journal of Mathematics
o Changes:
" Rocky Mountain Mathematics Consortium journals now in E-Prime
" Tohoku Mathematical Journal now in Euclid Prime
" Nagoya Mathematical Journal no longer open access
" Publications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences
now with EMS - all back issues going with it
o Other:
" 2010 pricing survey indicated preference for basic and complete
models
" Platform Enhancements: IP addresses management, usage stats setup
" Duke Mathematical Journal renewal problems addressed
" Euclid will give pricing info for various models via attendee signup

" Discussion of journals moving from Euclid (especially open access
titles going to subscription model)

Student Learning Initiative at UC Berkley - Brian Quigley
o "Math 191 Projects in Mathematics" was funded by a Mellon
USLI Curricular Innovation Grant
o Introduce students to the basics of mathematical research and presentation
o Outcomes and possible changes:
" Instructors pleased with librarian participation
" More of a balance of experiment and research activities desired
" Remove catalog component since students already show good understanding
" Open Discussion
o Journals:
" Usage counters are under discussion at AMS
" Electronic-only subscriptions desired as options for all journals
(no requirement for print)
" Desire for publishers to work with Portico
or LOCKSS for post-cancellation
access
" Backfiles should be on the same platform as current subscription
o E-books:
" DOIs desired both at title and chapter level (tables/figures would
be good too) - will help with course reserves
" E-book purchasing varies across libraries
" Students seem comfortable with e-books, mixed opinions amongst
faculty
" Ease of use and multiple platforms are factors
" Some search e-books and request print
" Digital to digital rights for interlibrary loan desired
o Mobile Devices access:
" Mobile device access desired, but limited availability via publishers
