International Nuclear Information System (produced by IAEA) includes access to Nuclear Science Abstracts (1948-1976)
Emily Poworoznek wrote that INIS is FREE online to universities and is also available by subscription. INIS is intended to foster the exchange of scientific and technical information on peaceful uses of atomic energy. “The database has citations to a lot of international gray literature as well as journal and conference papers.” They provide document delivery service. Physics Today Backfile Now Available
AIP announced “the launch of an online backfile for Physics Today. Institutional subscribers now have online access to issues since 2000, including all but the most recent 12 issues. AIP is in the process of digitizing all issues of Physics Today back to the magazine’s launch in 1948, planning to eventually have a complete digital archive”.
Thirteen Societies created a federated search scitopia.org
According to their website “Brought to you by thirteen of the world’s leading science and technology societies, scitopia.org searches more than three million documents, including peer-reviewed journal content and conference proceedings. You’ll get to the content you need quickly without having to search each individual society’s online library.” American Institute of Physics, American Physical Society, and Institute of Physics are included in the list of thirteen publishers.
Applied Physics Reviews Available as a Separate Online Publication
AIP announced that “APR, a key component of Journal of Applied Physics (JAP), is now available as a separate online-only subscription. The new electronic version of APR includes a complete backfile of APR articles. Journal of Applied Physics subscribers will continue to receive Applied Physics Reviews as part of their regular subscription. JCP Breaks out Biochemical Physics content to Create New online Journal
AIP announced the launch of JCP: Biochemical Physics (http://jcp-bcp.aip.org). “This online-only publication features the portion of newly published content from the Journal of Chemical Physics that deals directly with, or has important implications for, biologically related systems. IOP to publish journals of American Astronomical Society
The American Astronomical Society http://www.aas.org/ has announced that it has selected non-profit scientific publisher Institute of Physics Publishing (IOP), UK, as the new publisher for its research journals. IOP will commence publishing the Astronomical Journal with the January 1, 2008 issue, and will begin accepting manuscripts for publication in September 2007.
