Tom McIlrath, treasurer of the American Physical Society and longtime PAM
supporter has retired after ten years in his position.  Tom had great
admiration for librarians, which he expressed well and often.  During Tom's
tenure he introduced tiered pricing and traveled around the country to present
the new structure to librarians. He was open about the finances of the Society
and it's publishing operation, and for that we are extremely grateful.  Tom is
an emeritus professor of physics from the University of Maryland.

William Jacobs, newly minted librarian, has been appointed to the position
of Science and Engineering Librarian at the University of Miami.  Welcome
to the fold!

Dana Roth is the co-author with Kimberly Douglas of "Looming Threats to Society Journals." Chemical and Engineering News, November 20, 2006, 84, p.82-84.   See http://pubs.acs.org/cen/science/84/8447sci4.html

Maxine Moser retired from IDA Center for Communications Research - La Jolla.  She established their library in 1989.  Her career began in 1964 at the UCSD Biomedical Library as a cataloger.  After a 12 year retirement, she worked as an assistant librarian at Teledyne Ryan in San Diego for a brief time before assuming management of the Cubic Corporation Technical Library in San Diego for 9 years.  Kim Bevis, formerly Librarian at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, has assumed the responsibilities at CCR-LJ as of January 8, 2007.
