Follow Up to the Report of the Joint APS-AAPT Task Force on Graduate Education

One of the recommendations is that information fluency be included in
graduate curriculum. (see p. 21 of the report)

I recently attended a luncheon/discussion with the Directors of Graduate Education at the APS meeting in Baltimore. This discussion was arranged in order to discuss possible courses of action to address the recommendations of the Task Force. There was a similar event at the April APS meeting and a meeting of physics department chairpersons is being planned for June.

Representatives from many institutions attended the event. I was pleased to learn that several institutions do have an intensive writing curriculum. I did suggest that they might want to involve librarians.

Physics Information Fluency Blog

I have started a blog for the purpose of exchanging ideas for faculty/librarian collaboration on curriculum development.
