Retired PAM member Ellen Bouton received the National Radio Astronomy Observatory's Distinguished Performance Award for 2004. Ellen served NRAO for almost 30 years, 20 of those as Head Observatory Librarian. The award recognized her supervision of the transition from paper-based collections into the electronic era. "Currently, Ellen has accepted responsibilities as the NRAO Archivist, a critical function for NRAO. Ellen has established an archive policy and gone about collecting and classifying material in her usual systematic way. This new beginning provides hope that the important information about the history of radio astronomy and the Observatory will be collected before all is lost to the advance of time. These and many other accomplishments too numerous to mention, highlight the reasons Ellen Bouton is recipient of a Distinguished Performance Award for 2004."
