Astronomy Roundtable

Kathleen Robertson roberts@ifa.hawaii.edu
Jessica Moy jmoy@noao.edu

Jessica Moy (NOAO) and I will be co-moderators for the Astronomy Roundtable sessions at the Toronto conference. We are looking for topics of interest and trends that are impacting practice. Send us your ideas for discussion subjects.

We are interested in descriptions of projects, experiences, and opinions on these topics:

Digitization projects: Are you involved with digitization efforts in your organization? What is the scope of the task? Who are the team members? Have you avoided becoming involved with such a project?

Outreach: With increased funding, outreach efforts have grown in many organizations. Is your library more involved in these activities? Does your web page include outreach links? How are they evaluated and selected? Have increases in involvement been accompanied by increases in resources?

Institutional repositories/open access: Is your organization developing an institutional repository? Have your researchers expressed any opinions of open access options? Have they asked for your views? Have you organized an information session for your researchers?

Journal jobbers: The Faxon/Rowecom/divine debacle forced their customers into direct ordering or starting with another journal jobber. Have you noticed any changes in your journal jobber's performance as they add new accounts? Former Faxon/Rowecom/divine customers, has this chapter closed? Or are you still experiencing disruptions? Are there legal actions still pending?

Blogs, blogger, blogging: Does your library have a weblog? What all do you put on it? Do you maintain a blog on another topic? How many? How many blogs do you monitor? With what frequency? Via a RSS aggregator? Which one?
