Mathematics Roundtable

Cynthia Mader
maderc@lib.muohio.edu

This year in Nashville, the Mathematics Roundtable will take place on Tuesday, June 8th from 12:15-1:30. Please check the conference schedule for the exact location of the meeting.

As the moderator of this year's Mathematics Roundtable, I would like to continue to solicit any ideas for the upcoming meeting in Nashville. Major topics of presentations/discussions will focus on Digitization and Information Literacy efforts in the mathematics and statistics communities. As I finalize the agenda in the next couple of weeks, I am certainly open to additional ideas for possible discussion topics or speakers.

Digitization

  • Do you know of any new math/stats digitization projects or updates to current projects that you would like to hear about or that would be of interest to others?
  • How are your math/stats faculty, students and customers using digital resources? Do you provide additional products/services to help people locate these resources?

Information Literacy

  • Are you or someone you know involved in incorporating information literacy concepts into the mathematics or statistics curriculum?
  • Do you know of specific information literacy efforts underway targeting the math/stats communities?
  • What techniques do you use in your math/stats instruction sessions to encourage critical thinking and other information literacy skills?
Preliminary Roundtable Agenda:
  1. Introductions
  2. Presentations (tbd)
  3. Q&A for Presenters
  4. Roundtable discussion topics

Don't be shy! I'm very interested in hearing what initiatives you are involved in and what you would like to talk about at the Roundtable. Please send any discussion topics and additional suggestions to me.

Thanks to SIAM for sponsoring this year's roundtable and I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Nashville!
