PAM Conference Buddy Program
Emily Poworoznek
Partner up in Nashville! The PAM Buddy program is for you:
If you would like to make the most of the SLA Annual conference, have a guide, be introduced to other PAM Division members, and get a feel for how PAM really works, let us know (it doesn't have to be your first time at SLA).
If you want to help pave the way so someone else won't feel as lost as you did at your first (few) conferences, let us know.
Just send in your name with any details of what you want in a Buddy (e.g., subject specialty, event-related or other preferences, how much time you'd want to spend with your buddy, what you would like to learn or share about PAM, the Conference, etc.), and the Mentoring subcommittee will try to match you with a compatible buddy/guide. The commitment is just for the conference, or even just for part of it. So don't be shy, share a little.
Some comments from past years, "I felt good about passing on some SLA conference-going and PAM expertise, and gained a new friend in the field that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. We had a lot in common, so it was an enjoyable experience."
"Probably the best thing about having a buddy was having someone to introduce me to people in the division... I definitely think having a buddy made the conference more enjoyable."
Send me a line by email or snail mail if you would like to have a buddy or be a guide. Do it now, SLA '04 is just around the corner!
