PAM Buddy Program

Irene Laursen and Emily Poworoznek
ilaursen@wellesley.edu and emily.poworoznek@unh.edu

Don't get lost in the sauce! Pair up for the Big Apple as part of the PAM Buddy Program at the Annual SLA Conference, now in its fifth year.

It's simple. If you would like to make the most of the conference, have a guide, be introduced to other PAM division members, and get a feel for how the division really works, let us know (it doesn't have to be your first time at SLA). If you want to share the fruits of your experience at the conference, pave the way so someone else won't feel as lost as you did at your first (few) conferences, let us know. Send in your name with any details of what you want in a Buddy (e.g., subject specialty, event-related or other preferences, how much time you'd want to spend with your buddy, what you would like to learn/share about PAM/the Conference, etc.), and we will try to match you up with a compatible counterpart. The commitment is for the conference, or even just part of it. So don't be shy, share a little.

Some comments from past years: "I felt good about passing on some SLA conference-going and PAM expertise, and gained a new friend in the field that I probably wouldn't have otherwise. We had a lot in common, so it was an enjoyable experience."

"Probably the best thing about having a buddy was having someone to introduce me to people in the division…. I definitely think having a buddy made the conference more enjoyable."

Drop us an email line if you like to be a guide, or would like a guide. Do it now, don't forget!
