PAM-Wide Roundtable Sue Vazakas We will begin our short but sweet 90-minute session with introductions, since the main function of this RT is to serve as a "welcome to the conference" for our division. We will be quick, however, so that we can proceed to: A review of the progress on the physics translation project, which will be given by Bob Michaelson (Northwestern University)
A discussion, as suggested by Fritz Whitcomb (University of Chicago), about linking technologies and related issues, such as what libraries are doing to implement linking technologies for their electronic collections; who is using SFX, Endeavor, CrossRef, and related systems; who in the organization is implementing/managing the linking; and how the new linking services have been promoted to patrons, among other related topics. In addition to being fascinating, this discussion will move this topic to the front of our minds so that we are primed when it's introduced at other sessions and when we wander past these vendor booths at the Exhibit Hall.
We will end with announcements, a review of the PAM dance card, and related items. An introductory column of mine ran in the February Bulletin (http://www.sla.org/division/dpam/pam-bulletin/vol29/no3/roundtable.html), but please let me know your additional comments and suggestions for the PAM-wide RT! |
