Shaun Hardy was recently appointed Web Editor for the History of Geophysics Committee of the American Geophysical Union (web site http://history.agu.org/), and will serve as one of the conveners for a special session on Geophysics in the 20th Century: Contributions from Washington at the Spring 2002 AGU meeting in May. hardy@dtm.ciw.edu

Marika Asimakopulos, marika.asimakopulos@mcgill.ca reports the library name change at McGill University from Physical Sciences & Engineering Library to the Schulich Library of Science & Engineering.

Jeanette Regan is now Project Administrator, State Society and Governance of Melanesia, http://rspas.anu.edu.au/melanesia/, a project jointly sponsored by the Australian National University and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She says the challenge of this change (for the moment) has been to gain a greater understanding of how national and international organizations provide assistance to developing countries. "I am still remaining active within the Australian Libraries and Information Association and SLA and already missing you all." jregan@alianet.alia.org.au

Donna Cromer, dcromer@unm.edu reports she is giving a paper on a favorite subject: SciFi TV Fandom: The Influence of the Internet. The paper will be presented at the 2002 Regional Meeting of the SW/Texas Sections of the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association, in Albuquerque NM, February 2002.

Mary Scott reports a job change. "I have moved across the Oval from the Science and Engineering Library to become the Head of the Orton Memorial Library of Geology. Temporarily I am continuing as the collection manager for mathematical sciences but my primary position is Geology Librarian. I have moved from one of the newer library buildings on campus to the oldest building on campus, Orton Hall, built in 1893. I'm excited to be back in Geology but will maintain my ties with PAM. Reggie Brown retired last August after 32 years as the Geology Librarian at Ohio State University.

After ten years, Ruth Kneale is leaving the Gemini Observatory on February 1st to join a new solar telescope project at the National Solar Observatory. She'll miss Gemini greatly, but leaves care for the libraries and web sites in the capable hands of Virginia Smith. Ruth is looking forward to continuing her association with the PAM network of librarians from the totally new point of view of solar astronomy. rkneale@gemini.edu

Jill Hackenburg writes of an exciting new job change: "For my job changes, I was named head of virtual reference at the University of Buffalo (UB). This was in August and I am heading up the library reference chatroom at the University. There has been much press about our inroads into this area. I was interviewed for NPR in Buffalo, and that aired on Dec. 7th. Also, this month there is an interview in the journal Buffalo Business First (http://buffalo.bcentral.com/buffalo/stories/2002/01/14/focus2.html). I have been interviewed also for the city paper (Buffalo News) and the University paper. UB uses AOL Instant Messenger for the service and I supervise 17 people. The link will be live on Tuesday (1/22/01) with the start of the new semester." (http://ublib.buffalo.edu/libraries/help/refchat.html) jmh7@acsu.buffalo.edu
