Paul Ginsparg & arXiv Moving to Cornell University
Paul Ginsparg will have a joint appointment with the Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science. Computer Science is part of the new Faculty of Computing and Information. He will be working with the Digital Libraries Group in CS.

Production service of arXiv will be housed in Cornell University Library. During the transition phase arXiv will continue to be available through Los Alamos (at least that was the plan before the Nature article was published).

In the decade since arXiv started, it has grown into a major clearinghouse for scientific research in physics, astronomy and other fields. It now holds 170,000 research papers and receives 2 million Internet visits per week, according to Ginsparg.

All articles chosen for IoP Select are published first in IoP journals (available in print and electronically). IoP Select is updated weekly.

A username and password are required to access IoP Select. Users who do not already have a username and password for IoP's Electronic Journals service therefore need to register online.

AIP Conference Proceedings Now Online
The American Institute of Physics (AIP) is making the full-text of the AIP Conference Proceedings series available online. Coverage begins with Volume 500, published in February 2000. Institutions with a current Standing Order Plan for all Proceedings will receive free access. Individual articles may be purchased online through AIP's DocumentStore.

Standing Order Plan customers will be notified shortly by AIP of their eligibility for online access. While access to the complete online archive is only available to institutions with a Standing Order at this time, AIP will explore options for institutions with no print holdings.
