Specific tasks include:

I. Listserver

  1. The committee will review and implement policies and procedures for maintaining an effective "PAMnet" listserv service (the committee membership will include the Listowner);

  2. The Listowner will be responsible for maintaining a current and adequate subscription list for the listserver;

  3. The committee will review requests for postings to the listserver, and will forward questions to the PAM Executive Board when necessary.

II. Home Page

  1. The committee will review and implement policies and procedures for maintaining an effective PAM homepage, providing up to date, professional PAM related information, and representing the full scope of PAM activities for both PAM members and interested outsiders;

  2. The committee will include the Webmaster (who is also the committee chair) and subject representatives for math, astronomy, physics, computer science, and Web/Library Tools. Subject representatives are responsible for maintaining current links to the subject pages, and will post revised pages in HTML to the SLA server. If there are posting problems, the subject representatives will send their pages to the Webmaster to post (see #7);

  3. Non-subject-specific information, either PAM business or basic information ("vanilla"), will be sent to the Webmaster by appropriate PAM members;

  4. The Webmaster will make necessary FTP changes and do basic maintenance of the site;

  5. The Webmaster will stay in communication with the SLA webmaster to ensure continuity with other Divisions and Chapters;

  6. The Bulletin Editor(s) and Practices Manual Editor will work in close cooperation with the Webmaster to assure an integration of relevant information.

III. Web Log (aka "Blog")

  1. The Committee will review and implement policies and procedures for maintaining an effective "PAMblog" web log reporting tool for use at the Annual and Winter Meetings (the Committee membership will include the Blog owner);

  2. The Blog owner and Networking Committee Chair will be responsible for establishing and maintaining an appropriate blog presence, including appropriate disclaimers and links to PAMweb and SLA, and for advertising that presence to the PAM membership at large;

  3. Prior to the Meetings, the membership will be canvassed for volunteers to be "primary posters" for each PAM session. All PAM members are encouraged to post replies;

  4. The Blog owner and Networking Committee Chair will be responsible for removing any "spam" postings, or other inappropriate contributions to the blog, by regularly scanning postings during the Meetings and restricting posting access during other times of the year.
