Appendix A: Definition of 'Official Correspondence'1. Written on PAM stationery (importance of documenting to be at the discretion of individual writing the letter)2. Formal e-mail proposals to individuals or institutions that may require Executive Board approval or consensus 3. Major changes in proposals for practices manual (For points 1 & 2): Submission of every single piece of correspondence is not necessary; rather, generic thank-you notes, invoices, letters, etc. should serve as guidelines for both purposes of documentation and communication. In addition, approval of said documents may be either by official vote, yeah or nay; consensus of the majority; or "second of motion". (For point 3): However, major changes in proposals for the Practices Manual will require an official approval by the Executive Board. Consult current PAM Practices Manual Editor prior to implementing any changes. Approved February 1998 PAM Practices Manual Editor: Kristine Fowler, fowler@math.umn.edu
