SLA-DITE@lists.sla.org is a discussion list for members of the Information Technology Division of the Special Libraries Association. Those considering membership in the association are welcome to join. The goal of this list is to promote networking.

The primary use of the list will be for official notifications to members, especially to send members notification of issues of our electronic publication b/ITE. We will be using our discussion list, SLA-DITE, to inform members of the availability of each issue of b/ITE, as well as to communicate and get feedback from members to enhance the vitality of our Division.

Suitable subjects for posting are:

  • Discussions of topics of interest to special librarians from daily practical problems to the future of the information profession

  • Sharing of individual, committee, and section information

  • Questions and concerns from members soliciting colleague solutions

  • Discussion of books or articles relevant to the scope of the Division and/or its Sections

  • Announcements forwarded from SLA Association Office or from other SLA Chapters/Divisions, etc. of general interest to ITE Division members

  • Job announcements

  • Member news

  • Short relevant product announcements are appropriate

SLA-DIVERSITYMENTOR@lists.sla.org is the list of the Diversity Committee. Sponsored by the Diversity Committee of ITE, this list is for those interested in Diversity and Mentoring

SLA-DIGICON@lists.sla.org is the list of the Digital Content Section of ITE. The purpose of this list will be to facilitate discussion on items of mutual interest and benefit addressing the needs of users and providers of all kinds of computerized information.

SLA-SITW@lists.sla.org is the list of the Webmasters Section of the ITE. The purpose of the list will be to facilitate discussion on items of mutual interest and benefit to those interested in web design and programming and web site management.

GROUND RULES:

Personal messages should be addressed to an individual, not broadcast to all subscribers. Avoid me-too and I agree messages unless you add something new to the discussion. Please show courtesy and exercise tolerance.

Focus will be on topics relevant to the membership of the SLA Information Technology Division.

Spamming, blatant advertising, and irrelevant postings are not welcome, and senders may be removed from the list of subscribers.

NET ETIQUETTE

Participants on these list are asked to be tolerant and courteous. Messages sent should relate to issues of interest to members of the Information Technology Division of SLA. The goal of this conference is to promote networking. If problems arise, they should be referred to the Division Chair or List Manager, as should any comments and suggestions on the functioning and policy of the conference.

CROSS-POSTING TO MULTIPLE LISTS

If you are sending a note of your own to several lists, it is a courtesy to draw attention to the cross-posting at the beginning of the message to make it easier for people subscribed to several lists to delete the duplicates.

FORWARDING A NOTE FROM ANOTHER LIST

If you wish to forward someone else's message from another list, it is expected that you obtain that person's permission before you do so.

GOING ON VACATION

Remember to unsubscribe from this list or set your subscription to this list to "postpone", before you activate automatic "out of office" responses for your e-mail.

BOUNCING MESSAGES

Don't send messages to the list about bounced messages. Only send such messages to the list manager.
