IEBD Awards & Scholarships
Frances S. Cox Award
The Frances S. Cox Award, named in honor of the founder
of the division, recognizes an active IEBD member who has demonstrated
outstanding service to the division. Insurance
Periodicals Index editor Oriole Anderson was the first Cox
Award winner, and Gail Buchholz
from LIMRA in 2003.
Nominations may be submitted by division members only.The award
is presented at the IEBD business meeting during the SLA Annual
Conference.
The deadline for nominations is April 15th.

Margaret Orloske / Maureen Olson Memorial Scholarship
Each year the Insurance and Employee Benefits Division
offers a $1,500 scholarship for a library and information science
student to attend the SLA annual conference. To be eligible
a candidate must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in
library science and a student member of SLA.
Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation
and an essay of not more than 500 words. The essay topic will
center on the applicant's perspective on the future of the profession
and his or her role in it. The successful candidate is also
required to write an article about their conference experience for
the IEBD
Bulletin. The deadline for letters and essays is March 14, 2004.
