Welcome to the Insurance and Employee Benefits Division
Insurance and Employee Benefits Division encompasses the many diverse aspects of insurance including: all types of private, social, and government insurance, employee benefits, financial and estate planning, financial retirement plans, risk theory and management, legal implications of insurance, managed care organizations and reinsurance, but not excluding other areas specifically noted above.
Insurance and Emplyee Benefits is a Division of SLA - Special Libraries Association - a nonprofit global organization for innovative information professionals and their strategic partners. SLA serves more than 12,000 members in 83 countries in the information profession, including corporate, academic and government information specialists. SLA promotes and strengthens its members through learning, advocacy, and networking initiatives.

The new board for 2008 is as follows:
Chair - Holly Grossman
Holly has been an SLA member since 1990. She has been at the PCI and its predecessor organization, NAII, since 1984 and has managed the library since 1989. She received her MLS from Northern Illinois University, her BA from the University of Illinois and a paralegal certificate from Roosevelt University. She earned her CPCU designation in 2004. She served on the board of the North Suburban Special Librarians for two years and has served as IEBD Chair-Elect-Elect and two terms as Treasurer.
Chair-Elect - Michael Russell
Mike received his MLS from Rutgers University in 2001 and works as a Competitive Intelligence Analyst for Independence Blue Cross. He also serves as IEBD's Director, Webmaster and List Serve Owner and is a past Employment Chair of the Philadelphia Chapter. In addition, Mike is a member of the New Jersey Library Association's Emerging Leaders. He retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1998 and has a BS in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University.
Chair-Elect-Elect - Amy Plympton
Amy received her MLIS from the University of Rhode Island in 1997. She has been with LIMRA International for the past 10 years, currently serving as the library director. In addition to being a member of the IEBD for the past ten years, Amy is also a board member of the Connecticut Valley Chapter of SLA and a member of the Connecticut Library Consortium.
Secretary - Oliva Blakemore
Olivia obtained her MLIS from Florida State University in 2001. She has worked in LOMA's Information Center for 13 years, with responsibility for managing its technical operations. Olivia joined IEBD in 2000 and is also a member of the Georgia Chapter of SLA.
Director - Julie Stich
Julie is Senior Information Specialist at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, a nonprofit educational association located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. She holds undergraduate degrees in History and English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned her MLIS from UW-Milwaukee's School of Information Studies (SOIS). As a subject and information specialist, she researches member requests and authors surveys and other published materials on benefits, compensation and HR issues. Julie has earned the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation, which is sponsored by the International Foundation and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. She has been a member of SLA and the Insurance & Employee Benefits Division since 1990, and has held many committee and board positions in the Wisconsin Chapter, including President and Program Chair. She is currently the Chapter's Student Liaison with UW-
Milwaukee SOIS. Julie was involved in planning the SLA Great Lakes Regional Conference IV, held in Milwaukee in 1997. She served as an advisory member on SLA's Chapter Modeling Task Force and is currently serving on the SLA Bylaws Committee. Julie is a member of the Business Library Panel for the Institute for Museum and Library Science (IMLS) Study on the Future of the Library Workforce.
