Welcome New and Prospective Members! Welcome to the Competitive Intelligence Division! As of January 2007, we are the newest division in SLA and already have more than 750 members. Many of these members were transitioned from the former Competitive Intelligence Section of the Leadership and Management Division. L&MD members have complimentary dual memberships until their memberships are up for renewal. At that time, they may decide to join either the CI Division or be a member of both divisions. What’s the CI Division All About? Competitive intelligence (CI) is a vital organizational process and activity that examines the external competitive environment to support strategic and tactical decision-making. Increasingly, library and information science professionals are embracing CI and enhancing their contributions to their organizations. The SLA Competitive IntelligenceDivision was established to create a professional community that encompasses all aspects of this dynamic and essential organizational function. This includes planning, identifying intelligence needs, collecting and analyzing information, and providing strategic and tactical decision-support to management. We are comprised of information and intelligence professionals from a broad range of industries, organizations, and roles. Membership in the CI Division offers professional support for intelligence efforts, including a Community of Practice, educational programs, and resources. Tap into this exciting community and enhance your professional expertise. Join the CI Division! How to Become a Member? Become a member of the SLA Competitive Intelligence Division!
