SLA Biomedical and Life Sciences Division

Membership

The Special Library Association (SLA) is the international association representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in over eighty countries worldwide. SLA empowers information professionals through learning, advocacy, and networking. SLA offers you FREE membership in one of the 26 subject Divisions and the opportunity to join others for a small membership fee.

SLA is a global organization, and there is a dramatic range of incomes among its members. To be equitable to all, and to build the global network that is essential to all information professionals, SLA has tied dues in some way to income. SLA currently has a three income-based tiers: 1) for members making less than US$18,000, 2) for members making between US$18,000 and US$34,999, and 3) for members making US$35,000 and above.

SLA Board of Directors has voted to increase dues by 15 percent for most members, effective January 1, 2010. In addition a new dues tier for members with an annual income of US$75,000 or greater was approved, effective January 1, 2010.
