Welcome from the B&F Chair

Welcome to the revamped and re-launched B&F site!!! Please make a point of returning regularly as our Content Committee implement the ideas already in hand and content ready to be posted. The Board would like to ensure that the all of the hard work over an extended period on creating this site is recognized - we are extremely grateful to outgoing Webmaster Brent Nunn.

B&F has so much to celebrate currently - we're moving forward strongly from a highly successful Conference and programming at full steam for the Association's Centenary Conference. The Division is in excellent shape for our own second half century! The special Bulletin produced to mark our first half century was distributed at Conference and is also now available for members on our site.

Our not insubstantial achievements are possible because of the support of the membership at large and our ambitious plans are driven by a very dedicated and committed Board, all of whom played a valuable role in pulling together and implementing our programme for Seattle. Our thanks are also due (again!!) to our vendors who stepped up in this difficult climate to support our activities there — the Fall Bulletin lists all of these partners so please be sure to thank your contacts at these organizations when you are next in contact.

At our Annual Business Meeting I did call for volunteers to aid progress on some of the Division's objectives and activities and we have already had one volunteer for Ethics Ambassador for the Division. We can however have a number of volunteers in this role and so we encourage more of you to review the main SLA site for the details (the Information Ethics blog will give you a good idea of what this initiative is and how it is currently shaping up) so that you can decide if you would also like to step forward.

The Board is also keen to create a network of non-North American Chapter representatives to the B&F Board, to aid our forthcoming International Membership Initiative — at least one for each region would be great so if you meet the criteria, then please get in touch with me.

We will also require more volunteers to contribute to the reinstated Book Review in each Bulletin — contact Editor Miguel Figueroa if you are interested in contributing a review.

And we are anxious to ascertain whether any of you have any editions of the Bulletin you no longer have the space to hold on file? In attempting to review the copies held in the Archive, when producing the 50th Anniversary edition, it became clear that we do not have a complete set. If you have older editions in particular, please send a note of which you might be able to contribute to Bulletin Editor Miguel Figueroa who will confirm whether your potential contribution could plug a gap in our records.

And finally - don't be shy if you have suggestions for any changes or improvements you think we could make to our new site — e-mail our new Webmasters Kyle (kyle.sla@gmail.com) or Lulu (lyriclulu@gmail.com) who would love to hear from you.
