Slate of Officers for 2010

It's official! Hal Kirkwood, Nominating Committee Chair, reports that there have been no further nominations for the Business & Finance Division Executive Board 2010.

Therefore, the slate presented to you has been elected by acclamation.

They will take office in January 2010, and attend the Board Meeting at the SLA Leadership Summit in St. Louis, MO.

As always, the Division welcomes volunteers to work with the Executive and Advisory Board on various projects including Annual Conference planning. Robert Clarke — Chair Elect

Robert Clarke

Robert Clarke is the University Librarian at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. He has been active within the information management professional community, having served as President of the Corporation of Professional Librarians of Quebec, President of the SLA Eastern Canada Chapter and as a member of the Advisory Council of the School of Information Studies at McGill University. He also served as co-chair of the SLA 2006 Baltimore Conference Planning Committee and has been International Relations Chair of the Business & Finance Division since 2004. Robert has been a member of SLA since 1987.

He holds an Honours B.A in Canadian History and a Master of Library Science, both from McGill. Prior to entering the information profession, he worked in human resources management in the steel fabrication industry, and also served for 2 years as an active-duty reservist in the Canadian Armed Forces as an infantry officer in Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. He is fluently bilingual (English and French) and also speaks a little Spanish.

Christopher Hoeppner — Treasurer

Chris Hoeppner has been Treasurer of the Business & Finance Division since January 2008 and currently serves on SLA's Finance Committee. He has previously served the Division as Bulletin Editor and as Director responsible for continuing education programs. Chris is Associate Director of Libraries at DePaul University. In his 16 years with the Libraries at DePaul, he has also worked in reference, instruction and collection development. Prior to choosing a career in librarianship, he worked as a CPA and tax adviser with KPMG. In leisure hours, Chris can often be found listening to a wide variety of music or marveling at the architectural wonders of his adopted hometown, Chicago.

Karen MacDonald — Director (Professional Development)

Karen is a Business Liaison Librarian at Georgia State University. As one of only two business librarians serving the J. Mack Robinson School of Business, Karen keeps busy managing reference, collection development and classroom instruction requirements for the highly diverse student body at the fifth-largest business school in the United States. Prior to joining the faculty at GSU, Karen worked as a business librarian at Texas A&M University for five years.

Karen has been an active member of SLA since attending her first SLA annual conference in Nashville, TN (2004). She has been active in the Leadership & Management Division and was a founding member of the Competitive Intelligence Division, serving as its first webmaster. For the past three years, Karen has served as Chair of the Business & Finance Division College & University Business Libraries Section (CUBL). Under her leadership, membership in CUBL has grown significantly as the Section now offers more opportunities for professional service and collaboration. She influenced the Business & Finance Division Executive Board to establish the new Achievement in Academic Business Librarianship Award and offer the B&F Division Poster Session that was such a success at the 2009 Annual Conference.

Karen received her BBA from Eastern Michigan University and her MBA and MLIS from Wayne State University.
