Tuesday, June 13, 2006    1:30PM - 3:00PM
Location: Convention Center, 302  MAP

Is there a new media order?

Advertising and marketing gurus are forecasting a "New Media Order." The emergence of new media, quickening audience fragmentation, increasing demand for customization and tighter focus on return on investment are causing major shifts in spending patterns and time spent with media. Where do traditional media fit in this picture? This session provides an opportunity to hear an industry expert analyze this new media world.

Speaker:

Stuart Elliott
Advertising Columnist
The New York Times

Stuart Elliott has been the advertising columnist of The New York Times since May 1991, writing the weekday advertising report as well as other news articles and features.  Mr. Elliott has covered advertising, marketing and media topics for two decades and has freelanced for many publications as well as appearing on television news programs and specials.  Mr. Elliott received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.

Get Connected!  Social Networks and Knowledge Management

Wednesday, June 14, 2006     9:15AM - 10:45AM
Location: Convention Center, 304  MAP

In the past, librarians tended to stay in their libraries and "wait for customers."  It's become apparent that successful librarians are those who are "out there," attending meetings, connecting with their users outside the library setting.  This presentation will discuss how technology and human intervention come together to get the right knowledge to the right people at the right time.

Speaker:

Ted Graham
Worldwide Director of Knowledge Management Services
Hill & Knowlton, Toronto

As Worldwide Director of Knowledge Management Services at Hill & Knowlton Ted Graham directs the activities of the firm's global knowledge management initiative. Ted has more than 10 years of experience in journalism and communications and has worked for internationally recognized firms in newspaper and magazine publishing. Ted studied philosophy at the University of Toronto and received his MBA from the School of Business at Queen's University in Kingston.
