P R E S I D E N T ' S M E S S A G Eby Diane Gurtner, SLA-WI Chapter President
As my year as SLA Wisconsin Chapter President is coming to an end it's amazing to me how fast it went by. Now it's time for me to give recognition where it's due. Thanks to all the members who served on the board and committees in 2007; to those members who volunteered for leadership positions in 2008; and to those who participated by coming to meetings and networking events. At the last Board meeting before the October program with Stephen Abram, some decisions were made to revamp the committee chair positions. The Membership and Public Relations responsibilities are now combined into one Communications committee chair position. Thanks to Kyle Naff for stepping up to accept the new role! With the Board's approval, Kyle sent out a survey to the membership to help us find out what your expectations are from the Chapter and how we can best communicate with members. Hopefully you've all had a chance to give us your feedback. I'm eager to see the survey results and glad that I have the opportunity to remain on the Board as Past President to learn how your suggestions will help the organization move forward. I've rewritten this column numerous times because I wanted to be sure to mention everyone that has done such a great job this year, but it was starting to sound like an Academy Award speech so I've decided I will thank people more personally instead and close my last article by welcoming our new Board members: Doug Mullin, President-elect / Program Chair and Cynthia Larson, Secretary.
