Editorial

By Kate Bird Bulletin Editor

For those of us who consider the year 2000 a dry run for the real millennium, happy 2001!

The New Year can be a time to reflect on the activities and accomplishments of the past year and can provide the opportunity to look ahead and make plans and perhaps resolutions for the year to come. I like to think about what I would most like to know more about by the end of the year, and set about planning how to acquire the knowledge in the coming months.

It’s amazing how much knowledge I’ve acquired through active participation in our Chapter this year. A talk I gave on Image Management at Convergence 2000 in Calgary last fall has developed into a program I can deliver to other library groups and organizations. Through my stint as editor of Wired West this year I have acquired new technical skills in addition to an increased knowledge of web publishing. Participation on the Strategic Planning Committee also proved to be an interesting and rewarding experience for me. Specifically, the planning techniques I learned are applicable in both my personal and professional life.

Here’s to a great year ahead for you all. A toast to new goals and challenges!
