The new web journal for the SLA Western Canada Chapter has arrived! Wired West is separate from, yet an integral part of the SLA WCC website. Information such as the current contact list of the SLA WCC Board, programme announcements and reviews, and membership information is part of the Chapter website. Member News, feature articles, and columns are part of the web journal.

I would like to thank my Communications Committee: Christina Neigel and Susannah Tredwell for their work on the design and help in making this issue happen.

In creating our new look, we wanted to keep the pages clean while still giving them the feel of Western Canada -- forest green, wheat, mountains. We hope you find the look as pleasurable as the contents.

The theme for this issue is Librarians Abroad. When dreaming up this issue, I was planning a trip to Europe and of course travel became one of my interests over the summer (Italy in October is great!) Carol, Craig, and Donna willingly filled my request with articles on France, New York, and the UAE.

Other feature article topics fell into place as members came forward with ideas they wished to pursue. These ideas cover library profiles, determing value for services, and discussing corporate culture. Much fodder for regular columns! Now is your chance, submissions are always welcome!

Wired West attempts to provide items of interest to our membership. Did we miss any areas or topics you would like us to cover? Let us know!
