Prior to this, Heather has managed the libraries of two law firms, worked in the library for the Saskatchewan Research Council, a high school library, two University libraries and has established libraries for several small not-for-profit organizations.

Elena graduated with an MLIS degree from the University of Washington in 1996. For the past 10 years, she was the information literacy and allied health services librarian at Shoreline Community College in Shoreline, Washington. Having recently moved to BC and become an SLA WCC member, she is looking forward to meeting other members and participating in events.

Katie Edwards earned her MLIS from the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) program at the University of Alberta in April 2008. At SLIS, she chaired the Career Resources and Partners’ Week Committees. She moved the Partners’ Week marketing and sign-up process to a digital platform, cutting costs and increasing participation by both students and professionals. In May, she is beginning her professional career at Calgary Public Library, as an Outreach Librarian.

Michelle Mallette is currently the Student Services Coordinator for the School of Library, Archival & Information Studies at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She is responsible for recruitment and alumni relations, as well as student placements in library and archival information centres. She is also an adjunct instructor in the Library & Information Technology program at Langara College, and has worked in both public and special libraries. Prior to her career in libraries, she worked as a journalist and editor for several Lower Mainland community newspapers, where she and her staff earned several awards. She is also a member of the BC Library Association, and is once again active in the SLAIS Alumni Association. Among her greatest achievements are growing artichokes from seed to harvest in a single season, and a B+ in introductory calculus, ten years after she finished Grade 12 math.
