Healthy Eating 101
Confused about which foods to be eating? Do you ever feel you can’t
keep up with all the conflicting messages about food and nutrition from
the media? This seminar will help to simplify eating. It will allow you
to feel confident in your food choices and relax around food. After
attending this seminar, you will:
- Understand carbohydrates, proteins and fats and
their role in our
bodies
- Understand what constitutes a 'balanced'
meal
- Learn tips on how to manage your weight
- Know how often to eat for improved energy
levels
- Acquire new snack and meal ideas
- Learn how to read labels in the grocery

- Understand the importance of keeping hydrated
SPEAKER: Asia Peters
Asia Peters is a private practice Registered Dietitian. She spends her
days educating people about healthy food choices and strategies for
incorporating these foods into everyday life. She believes that
everyone can make dietary changes, despite our hectic schedules, with
knowledge and commitment.
Asia completed her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from the University
of British Columbia and a clinical internship at Vancouver Hospital.
Her experience includes many areas of dietetic practice, including
acute care, community nutrition and one-on-one nutrition counselling.
She has worked with hundreds of clients on a one-on-one basis and
presented numerous seminars. She also works with the media in relaying
nutrition information and has appeared on Live Breakfast Television,
City TV, The Weather Network, MTV Canada and The Shopping Bags program.
Asia's areas of expertise include healthy eating for improved energy
levels, weight and shape management, sport nutrition, diabetes
management, cholesterol control, vegetarian eating, prenatal nutrition
and family nutrition. She takes pride in developing individualized
plans with practical tips and strategies for busy lifestyles.
