The Entrepreneurial Information Manager - or Be Your Own Boss!

Are you tired of the usual job routine? Do you want to spice up your career by working for yourself? Have you ever entertained the idea of starting your own information management (IM) business but were unsure of where to start? Join us on January 26, 2006 as our experts give us first hand advice about establishing yourself in the Calgary IM market and how to keep your company prospering.

Pat Cavill, President, Pat Cavill Consulting, was the winner of CLA's 2005 Outstanding Service to Librarianship Award. Ms. Cavill became a library consultant in 1990 after a 20 year career in regional library development. Her consulting practice focuses on marketing and advocacy (to help develop library support) and leadership and ethics (to insure libraries are worthy of support). She has received many awards from library associations and is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for her contribution to the library community. Ms. Cavill is based in Calgary and is sure to have some great advice on starting your own consulting business.

Sue Rock, Owner, The Rockfiles Inc, is a Certified Records Manager with over 18 years experience in the IM industry and established her information management consulting firm in 1996. The Rockfiles is a proud member of many information industry associations including records management, archives, and records storage. The Company has a solid track record of delivering information management solutions to clients spanning agricultural, chemical, mining, oil and gas, utilities, NGO, and government regulatory sectors. Company services include records management consultation and assessment; records project planning, management and implementation; and, records policy, procedure and job description writing. Ms. Rock is also based in Calgary and will have some great tips on how to maintain a successful business.
