Milne Library at SUNY College at Oneonta seeks a creative leader to manage Access Services. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Planned start date: June 1, 2007. Responsibilities: Provides leadership and coordination for the operations of the Access Services Unit (circulation, print and online reserves, stack maintenance, and interlibrary loan/document delivery). Coordinates the work of a circulation department of four clericals and an interlibrary loan department of two clericals. Oversees participation in consortial resource sharing programs. A priority for this position is the planning for and development of policies, procedures, and models for the organization and operation of access services in light of new and emerging technologies and services. Responsible for ongoing team development and enhancement of an excellent service culture. Also participates actively in reference, including some nights and weekends, and collection development activities. Opportunity for library instruction.
Qualifications Required: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program; demonstrated experience in project management; successful supervision of personnel in a library setting; professional experience in access services; experience with print and electronic reference sources; evidence of excellent communication skills.
Preferred: Demonstrated experience in online systems for circulation, reserves, and interlibrary loan, e.g. ALEPH, ERes, and Illiad; experience providing reference service and library instruction in an academic setting; one year of experience supervising clerical/support staff; demonstrated fluency with current and emerging library technology; familiarity with copyright law as applicable to academic libraries.

Immediate full time opening for experienced journalist or librarian with expertise in online research, computer-assisted reporting techniques or generally using public records in investigative reporting. A chance to be a key player in an innovative, award-winning news organization in New York's state capital owned by the Hearst Corporation. Responsibilities would include: managing a staff of two researcher/librarians; supporting investigative reporting projects with specialized research; supporting general research and fact-gathering needs in daily news reporting; attending regular news meetings to monitor breaking news and research demands; assisting in long-term development of an in-house public records data warehouse; preserving a low-maintenance century-old archive of print news, photography and other content; negotiating sales of archived content and purchases of online services; reporting to a senior editor and working closely on the planning of investigative projects; and collaborating with all managing editors to improve news content through reference support.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess: A masters degree in journalism or library
science or equivalent significant work experience; a curiosity for finding
facts and uncovering hidden or difficult-to-find information; leadership,
interpersonal skills and initiative suited to a manager; basic competency
in the use of web browser, word processing, spreadsheet and document processing
software; some skill in the use of, or some general familiarity with the functions
of relational database management software; and an ambition to be part of
a closely-knit, well-run news staff devoted to quality journalism.

Ithaca College invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. This position plays a key role in the library's commitment to user-centered service development.
Ithaca College is a selective medium-sized comprehensive College in the beautiful
Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. The City of Ithaca and surrounding

The Electronic Resources Librarian will coordinate and support the acquisition, processing and maintenance of electronic resources for the library, including duties required to guarantee continuing access to these resources. The incumbent will be responsible for the management and tracking of the electronic resources budget. The incumbent will serve as a link between the technical services and public services units in the library, participating in collection development activities for electronic databases, e-journals, e-books and related technologies, including public domain electronic resources, as well as participating in some reference duties.
Required qualifications: MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited school; two or more years of relevant library experience; knowledge of OCLC, AACR2, MARC formats, LCSH and current cataloging standards; familiarity with standards for access to electronic resources, non-MARC metadata schemes and related and emerging technologies; successful experience with AACR2/metadata schemes. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are essential; must have ability and willingness to work independently within a team environment and a changing library and college environment.
Preferred qualifications: Experience working in an academic library; supervisory experience; experience with Voyager staff modules; experience with an Electronic Resources Management system; fiscal management experience.
