Chapter Information
The Special Libraries Association is an international organization of more than 12,000 members who work in special libraries serving business, research, government, universities, newspapers, museums and institutions that use or produce specialized information.
The Upstate New York Chapter includes about 250 members from all areas of the state, except New York City and Long Island.
The goal of the SLA is to advance the leadership role of special librarians in our information society. SLA provides members with a wide variety of services and benefits that enhance their skills as information professionals. Benefits include an annual conference, continuing education programs, publications, and employment services.
Chapter benefits include
a newsletter continuing education programs, local area meetings, and an
employment newsletter. The chapter provides a consultation service for
organizations who are considering establishing a library or information
center.
