Alison J. Head has a Ph.D. in library and information science from the University of California at Berkeley (1990) and studied Human-Computer Interaction at Stanford University as a Visiting Scholar (1996-1997). She teaches courses on Web Adoption and Diffusion and Interface Design and Usability at St. Mary's Colleg in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the former Director of Information Management at The Press Democrat Newspaper, a New York Times Regional Newspaper in Santa Rosa, Calif., where she wrote the newspaper group's first business plan for Web site development. Alison is also the author of Design Wise: A Guide for Evaluating the Interface Design of Information Resources (1999), as well as the abovementioned usability study.
