As the eyes of the world turn upon the Republican National Convention now being held in Philadelphia, I am reminded of the wonderful sla conference I attended there in June. I found it very inspirational and I urge every Chapter member, especially those on the Board, to attend each annual meeting, if at all possible. Educational opportunities abound, plus the ability to connect with leaders from other chapters and at headquarters is richly rewarding and helps "put a face" on interactions with those we may know only from leadership or division listservs or the headquarters website, if at all.
Chapter Cabinet Chair-Elect Daille Pettit sent us a note in June thanking us for our chapter's $250 donation to the Global 2000 fellowship fund, which will enable a worthy recipient to attend the Brighton uk conference in October. Dr. David Bender, Executive Director of sla, sent us a congratulatory letter and certificate honoring our upcoming 25th anniversary celebration. We are so proud of Past Chapter President Jo Anne Boorkman, who was honored to become an sla Fellow at the conference, a significant award and milestone. I am a member of an Association task force that is looking into hiring a branding firm to possibly rename sla. Contact me if you have any ideas or feelings on this issue, which has been a perennial "hot button" for members.
