Please join us February 25th for an inside look at CBS MarketWatch.com, a leading web source of financial news and information. Managing Editor Neil Chase will explain how MarketWatch generates and archives more than 1,000 of its own news items a day -- ranging from one-line headlines to full-length written stories to audio and video reports -- along with hundreds of stories from other news organizations.
We will take a look at the Web site, the proprietary tools MarketWatch has built for creating and managing its news, the ways in which the archives are organized and the continuing challenge of making the content easy to find and use for the 10 million people who visit MarketWatch.com each month.
We will also look at the challenge of distributing news and information to the more than 500 Web sites and other destinations that license content from MarketWatch. They range from the largest Web destinations like Yahoo and AOL to online brokers and many smaller Web sites.
The evening also includes a look at The Art of Living Black, an exhibit of work by Bay Area artists presently on display in the MarketWatch offices.
Directions: MarketWatch is at 825 Battery Street, in the KPIX Channel 5 building at Broadway and Battery in San Francisco's North Beach. It is a 15-minute walk (10 blocks) north from the Montgomery BART/MUNI station, and parking is available at meters (free after 6pm) or in nearby lots.
