Princeton-Trenton Chapter Special Libraries Association
Return

President Susan Moss brought the meeting to order after a delicious dinner.

She acknowledged that it was a very challenging year: the first meeting being held on September 12th, the proposed bylaws changes and the fact that Roberta Shaffer resigned prematurely. Some positive outcomes to this adversity were better ways of communicating with the membership.

A summary of the eight meetings held this year was presented. Member’s contributions to meetings and special events were acknowledged. Special accomplishments of members include:
Dorothy Alibrando running for chair of Solo Division
Mitchell Brown is incoming chair of the Science/Technology Division
Connie Paul, Executive director of Central Jersey Regional Library Cooperative, was named Librarian of the Year by the New Jersey library Association.

Many raised their hands when asked who was attending SLA in LA. Members were reminded to look at the proposed changes to the bylaws.

Susan thanked the sponsors for the meeting, Prolibra’s Margaret Bennet and Wiley’s Athena Michael. Students Mary Metzger and Maria Saimbert were welcomed as were first meeting attendees, Suzanne Blecker and Louise Deis.

Susan thanked the board for their help through the year and presented each with a delicious box of chocolates.
Secretary Marilyn Apelian cast the ballot for the incoming slate of officers:
    President-Elect: Mitchell Brown
    Secretary- Carol Feltes
    Treasurer: Elana Broch
    Director: Jan Watterworth
Susan Moss as president of the Princeton-Trenton chapter, SLA declared these candidates elected.

Susan Moss congratulated the new officers and turned the gavel over to Ruth Weitzenfeld, the new President. Ruth thanked Susan for a fine job serving as President the past year and presented her with a gift of appreciation on behalf of the Board. Ruth introduced the guest speaker, Susan Dimattia who is the editor of Corporate Library Update and was SLA President in 1999/2000. She gave her talk on Leadership Change-Change Leadership. She explored some of the current concepts of leadership, including the competencies of successful leaders. She then applied those competencies to the skill of leading organizations, teams, individual and ourselves, through the perpetual change process.

After the talk the meeting came to a close. Tentative plans for a last board meeting are slated for the middle to end of June.
