Happy Hour Report from the eventInformal Happy HourAugust 2, 2005 Pyramid Brewery Seattle, WA By Laura Zingg The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Special Libraries Association met on August 2, 2005 at the Pyramid Brewery in Seattle for good food, good conversation and a good beer (or two). This particular SLA chapter meeting was a great opportunity for the group to meet Dav Robertson and his wife Eliza who came all the way from North Carolina to be a part of the festivities. Dav is the Library Director for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and one of the candidates for the future national Presidential position of SLA. Eliza works in the library for the National Humanities Center and is the president of the North Carolina chapter of SLA. Among the attendees from the Amgen Washington Library were Julia Parker, Jennifer Yoakum and Laura Zingg. Greta Rieber of Quellos was also present as well as Dan Trefethen who works in Future Combat Systems at Seattle’s Boeing Co. Members of Lexis-Nexis also attended including Valerie Kemmer and her colleagues. The group bonded over talk of patent searching, vendor subscriptions and the intensity of the spicy artichoke dip. Feel free to contact people who attended the Happy Hour, if you want to know more about Dav's ideas for the organization. Future events: the SLA-PNW fall kick-off meeting will be in mid-October. |
