Annual Meeting Minutes
May 26, 2005
Harbor Steps Conference Center, Seattle
1. Julia Parker, SLA PNW President-Elect, welcomed everyone and introduced
past SLA PNW Presidents that were in attendance.
2. Katherine Foster, SLA PNW President, began the business meeting.
3. Treasurer’s Report: Barbara Wetzel reported that the Chapter has approximately
10K in the bank, as of before this meeting.
4. Grants and Awards Report: Laura Dushkes reported that 2 iSchool Students
received grants of a paid registration to the SLA Annual Meeting in Toronto.
The awardees were Joanna Burgess and Kristin Williams.
5. Other awards received by iSchool students reported by Julia:
a. Deborah Letterman received a grant from INSPEC to go to the Toronto meeting.
b. Theresa Coffin received an ACRL Immersion scholarship to attend the Regional
ACRL Institute for Information Literacy Immersion Program, offered by the Washington
State Library Directors Council.
c. Laura Downs received the Frost-Gershenfeld Award which will allow her to
go to the Toronto meeting.
6. Katherine mentioned the bylaws calendar change, that the board member’s
year of service will now be aligned with the calendar year instead of the fiscal
year.
She also informed the Chapter that there are no longer any Chapter Bylaws,
but are Governing Documents instead. A committee needs to be formed to go through
these Documents and make any necessary changes.
7. Dan Trefethen reported that SLA was considering instituting a sliding scale
for member dues. They haven’t yet voted on it.
8. Katherine reported that Chris Mulready will be Treasurer for 2005-06 and
Barbara Wetzel will be President Elect for that time period.
9. Katherine thanked the Membership and Hospitality Committees for their work
on the Annual Meeting. (Kim Gregor, Greta Rieber and Kathleen Morley) She then
presented the Board and Committee members' gifts of thanks and adjourned the
business meeting.
10. Julia introduced Harry Bruce, faculty member at the iSchool, who was the
presenter for the evening’s program.
