(AND YET MORE) CONGRATULATIONS...
To SLA-PSG for receiving not one but TWO student group merit awards from SAAAC
for 2008. Creative Use of Electronic Resources (2nd year in a row!!) and Outstanding Leadership. The award committee indictated that they "...were very impressed by (SLA-PSG) efforts this year, especially as (they) were the only student group to win two awards. Well done indeed!" and Pittsburgh Chapter's members heartily concur. These awards will be presented to the group at the 2008 SLA Conference in Seattle. CHAPTER MEMBER NOMINATED AS SLA PRESIDENT-ELECT
Pittsburgh Chapter's Lynn Berard (Principal Librarian, Carnegie Mellon University - Networking & Mentoring Chair) was recently selected by the SLA Nominating Committee as a candidate for 2008 President-Elect. Candidates will speak at the annual conference in Denver, Colorado, 3-6 June 2007. Elections will be held electronically in mid-September 2007. Press Release
CHAPTER MEMBER RECEIVES 2007 IEEE CE AWARD
Pittsburgh Chapter's Donna Beck (Engineering Librarian, Carnegie Mellon University - Student Relations Chair) is the recipient of the 2007 IEEE Continuing Education Stipend. Donna will be honored during the SLA Engineering Division Business Meeting and Luncheon on June 5, 2007 at the SLA Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado. The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Continuing Education Stipend is awarded to an SLA Engineering Division member who submits the best essay on how the applicant will benefit professionally from continuing education.
