CHAPTER
DISCUSSION LIST
Our
chapter began its email discussion list in September 2000 as a means to
improve distribution of news, announcements and information related to
chapter business. Members are able to discuss "hot" topics,
submit inquiries to colleagues and post information of professional interest.
TO
SUBSCRIBE TO THE LIST:
Send the following command to lists@lists.sla.org:
subscribe sla-cpit email_address firstname lastname
Example:
subscribe sla-cpit john123@hotmail.com John Smith
- No subject line
is needed in the email message.
- You will receive
a confirmation message once you are subscribed.
POSTING MESSAGES TO THE LIST:
Once you are
subscribed, you can post messages to the list by sending an email to sla-cpit@lists.sla.org.
When posting, please
clearly identify the topic of your message in the subject line and repeat
your e-mail address at the end of your message (if you don't have a signature
file).
UNSUBSCRIBING TO THE LIST:
To
unsubscribe to the list, send the following command to lists@lists.sla.org
Note: The address for unsubscribing is different
from the one you use to post messages
unsubscribe sla-cpit
email_address
Example:
unsubscribe sla-cpit john123@hotmail.com
A message will be
sent back to you acknowledging that you are unsubscribed from the list.
User Guidelines for Pittsburgh Chapter Discussion List
* The discussion
list should be used for legitimate business purposes of the Special Libraries
Association's Pittsburgh Chapter
* Appropriate postings include job openings, questions about products,
discussions of ideas, expression of professional opinions, posting links
to useful sites, coordinating rides to and from local chapter and national
meetings
* Posting product advertisements is NOT appropriate. However, responses
by commercial representatives to questions about the content or features
of their products are welcomed and encouraged.
* Please refrain from posting of jokes, chain letters, and "I'm looking
for a good tailor"-type inquiries; likewise, RSVP's should be answered
outside the list
* Copyrighted materials should not be posted on the discussion list without
the permission of the copyright holder(s)
* Don't flame (criticize another member of the list) on the discussion
list. You should not send or respond to a "flaming" message
* Please refrain from sending large files to the discussion list. Large
files consume system resources and may cause your message to be undeliverable.
Failure to adhere
to these guidelines will result in removal from the list
