Event Information: Information Professionals are constantly being challenged to produce "ROI" statements on their expenditures for information. Upper management may ask, "Why should we spend all this money for information services, when everything we need is available on the internet for free?" This session, presented by Betty Jo Hibberd, Quantum, Dialog, went beyond traditional "soft" metrics to take a hard look at the business value information expenditures bring to those who pay for them.

Event Information: Donations to the Knower Fund were accepted. Beverly M. Knower worked as a librarian at the Sun Oil Company and was active in SLA. The memorial fund honors Beverly's interest for support of students. The Knower Fund supports students who wish to explore areas of special librarianship by subsidizing their opportunities to attend meetings with special librarians, attend relevant conference or training and get acquainted with SLA.
