All membership applications are handled through the association headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. There are several levels of membership - member, associate member, student member, retired member, and a one-year special for unemployed members.

Membership includes a subscription to the monthly publication Information Outlook. All members may affiliate with one chapter and one division at no charge. For additional details, visit the SLA Headquarters homepage.
