New York is the information capital of the world and the membership of the New York Chapter of the Special Libraries Association reflects the City's prominence in finance, communications, science and the arts. The Chapter's 1,100 members work in a broad spectrum of New York City based businesses and institutions, and in businesses from around the world that use the resources of the Big Apple.

As the largest of SLA's 57 chapters, the size and diversity of the New York Chapter make it a unique resource for its members. There are chapter meetings, six subject-oriented groups and a variety of programs that link the information community. Chapter goals are to heighten members' capabilities through networking, education, and disseminating information.

The New York Chapter maintains no permanent office. To speak with someone active in the chapter, please consult the list of officers and chairpeople.

The Special Libraries Association (SLA) is an international association of library and information services professionals with headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia. SLA offers its nearly 13,000 members a variety of professional development programs, government and public relations support, a resource center, annual conference and ongoing membership services, such as career services online and salary surveys. It's vision is to be known as the leading organization in the information industry, a catalyst in the development of the information economy, and a strategic partner in the emerging information society.
