Most relaxing activity: Playing tennis on a hot summer day and then going out to eat lunch.
Last good movie/concert/event I saw: I went to the Davis Cup quarterfinal for three days in Winston-Salem over Easter weekend. The U.S. beat Spain . It was an amazing time.
Major accomplishment: I would have to say that so far in my life, I've never been without a job longer than three days. I'm pretty proud of that.
Favorite food group: Thai Food, Indian Food, Coffee, Vitamin Water
If I won the lottery, I would: a. pay off my family's bills, b. pay off my car and school loan c. buy a house at Wrightsville Beach, one here in Durham and one in the Adirondack Mountains d. start a non-profit to help kids e. open a yoga studio f. open an antiques store g. go to Grand Slam tennis tournaments every year h. quit my job
Favorite website: I'm addicted to public radio so I would have to say the live feed from KCRW in Los Angeles .
Last good book I read: Marie Antoinette: The Journey by Antonia Fraser
Most influenced by: My Mom, the Dalai Lama and Bobby Kennedy
If I weren't a librarian, I'd be: A professional tennis player if I was good enough, an architect, a yoga teacher, an antique shop owner
What I really like about my job is: I love working at a public university and I love working with students.
My favorite SLA memory is: At the SLA Annual Conference in 1999, I went to this great party at the Wabasha Street Caves in St. Paul , Minnesota . It was very cool to be playing poker where mobsters once did. It was like being in a 1930s movie for a night.

The one thing I really hate to do in the library is: I don't like having to tell the students that we are closing for the day and that they have to pack up the books and study somewhere else.
People would be surprised to know that I: I never rooted for UNC until I started working here. I used to be called “ABC (anyone but Carolina ) Devaney. Now, I even wait outside for discarded Dean Dome chairs as you can see from this photograph.
