Catherine Plaisant, University of Maryland and David Arsenault, MITRE Corporation
Information visualization has emerged as a potent technology to support information seeking and decision making. Users can perceive patterns and exceptions in large data sets to identify areas that need further scrutiny. We will demonstrate examples of visualizations for a variety of data types from time series to hierarchies or social networks. We will also explore new ways of using the Web as a global database and platform for applications that may be used singularly or in combination to create mashups.
