What Every Librarian Should Know About Genealogy

Genealogists are everywhere. While you may not know your customers as genealogists, it is a safe bet that some of them actively pursue this time consuming hobby. Although they don't use your collection for research you may find it useful to know some basic information about family history research and its practice in today's online world. Or, perhaps you are a closet genealogist yourself?! This presentation will provide an overview of basic resources for conducting genealogy research in Maryland.

A presentation by Mary K. Mannix, Manager of the Maryland Room

Professional Networking Wine Tasting Frederick Cellars: A City Winery

Immediately following Mary's presentation we will walk or drive (your choice) the short distance (6 blocks) through the Frederick historic area to Frederick Cellars. Located in a wonderful old brick warehouse on 221 East Street, along Shab Row and Everedy Square, we will continue the evening with conversation and a private wine tasting.

After wine tasting you are encouraged to dine in Frederick and savor its historical ambiance. Danielle’s, a fine restaurant down the street from Frederick Cellars has been engaged to host a small group of us (first 10 people to sign up/dutch treat). Or you can enjoy water front dining on Carroll Creek near the library or in any of the great restaurants on Market Street.
